BLUF Bristol #2
“A living Tom of Finland sketch”
That’s how one leatherman described the great night BLUF members had at The Den in Bristol at BLUF Bristol #2. A pub full of leathermen, row upon row of shiny tall boots lined up at the bar, a coat rack hung heavy with quality hide, conversation flowing as easily as well as the discreet admiring glances. It was a night that secured Bristol as a growing destination for leathermen.
BLUF@Bristol#2 had been widely anticipated ever since last year’s launch event. Bristol has established itself as a friendly, no attitude city that suits modern leathermen who are looking for a quality social time and value for money. With its affordable hotels, reasonably priced drinks and approachable locals, guys are travelling far and wide to see what this city has to offer.
Hung and heavy: the groan of the leather jackets on the coat check rails
And travel they did: in addiiton to the local crowd in Bristol, Cardiff and the West Country, guys came into the City form London, Birmingham, Manchester and across rural counties hiding BLUF men in Wiltshire, Oxford, Dorset and Berkshire.
Many of those who had traveled from out of town and had heard about BLUF Bristol and were keen to experience it for themselves. Many that attended had not been out on the leather circuit for a while - tired with the “same old, same old” and the coldness of many of the big fetish events. They were keen to experience something different. They were not disappointed.
The venue was just right to create a warm, social
and playful night: as it should be.
It was shortly after 9pm when that distinctive sound of boots on the cobbled stones of a discreet tuck away lane of the City’s Old Market quarter could be heard. Guys were making their way along Gloucester Lane to The Den for an exclusive BLUF event and the sense of expectation was hanging thick in the air.
Right from the start, with a friendly check in (complete with full airport style “BLUF Air” baggage tagging!) guys knew that they were part of a very special event.
The doorstaff at ‘check-in’ looked across the bar just one hour after ‘doors open’ to be ‘gobsmaked’ by the sea of Muir caps: “Every man was holding their drink gloved! It was a full-on sight to see!”
The bar filled with over 40 leathermen who were able to enjoy real ales, music that had been expertly mixed for the evening, darkened corners and a surprise midnight “meatfeast” BBQ that was a great hit, just at the right time, at the half point, fueling-up guys for the ‘second shift’ to 4am.
With such a successful event like this, it comes then as no surprise that BLUF Bristol #3 will be a must attend event and demand for tickets will be high. The local BLUF group tell us here that they anticipate their next meet “…sometime in early 2013″.
Keep your eye on LeatherWest.com to find out when that event will be and then add it your calendar - you won’t want to miss out! Best still, sign-up to our newsletter where you’ll be first to know of forthcoming events and news.
If you want to be part of the action and get into BLUF, check on the groups dresscode and joining pages. You can also contact BLUF@Bristol via e-mail. Don’t forget you can follow them on twitter too.
The guys @blufbristol did a great job. Super turnout. Who knew there were hot men in the provinces? ![]()
