BLUF come to Bristol for its fourth outing, promising their biggest attendance of fully clad and big booted leather guys on Saturday. Sunday sees GEAR Bristol holding a special leather themed night at their regular monthly event. This weekend is a bumper one for leathermen in the West, writes LeatherWest report Sam Benger, where Bristol’s Old Market quarter will be vibrating with the sound of creaking leather and the thud of big black shiny boots.

BLUF Bristol,( now celebrating its 2nd birthday and BLUF it’s 16th anniversary) tell LeatherWest that we should expect “the largest number of men in the City over the weekend.”

Experiencing an unprecedented demand, the event itself sold out a month ago. Due in part to the increasing local membership numbers in the West (BLUF membership had doubled in two years) but also with the Bristol meets (and the city) becoming increasingly attractive to BLUF members across the UK and beyond.

The Den will play host to the eagerly anticipated party, where entry is restricted to BLUF members and registered guests only. A strict dresscode is in force on the door. Kick-off is at 9pm with a late ending at 4am.

Black Arrow (Tim) of BLUFBristol says that the bar will be “packed full and wall-to-wall leather” for their event and promising a “…rare opportunity to mix and socialise with like minded passionate-about-leather men in a sea of Muir caps, gloves and boots”. We are looking forward to being in that mix of men!

Their previous meet attracted men from across the UK and Ireland and again the list of visitors is impressive: Manchester, Birmingham, Southampton,Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh, London and Dublin. Visitors to town will be mixing it up with plenty of local guys from Bristol, Cardiff, South Wales and across the West Country.

Neil Page creative photographer will cover the BLUF event.

The group have announced that Neil Page will be the official photographer for the night to record all the happenings. Neil, based in Nottingham, is gaining a reputation in the fetish world for his creative and quirky take.

BLUF Bristol’s Bristol Uniform (Mark) says that they are excited just what will come out of the night: “We’ve been impressed by Neil’s work for some time. He’s work in the fetish world and is a very accomplished event photographer. We’re really pleased he’s coning to Bristol to cover the event. It’s a real boost for us to attract someone of Neil’s standing and reputation.”

Rumors have also been confirmed about that leathermen will be out in good numbers on Friday for a ’warm-up’ session to build up some stamina for Saturday and Sunday night’s antics. BLUF say “all leathermen are welcome to join in an informal meet-up”. They’ll be at the Bristol Bear Bar from 9pm Friday and Saturday from 8pm the action moves on to The Den.

On Sunday, GEAR Bristol host their Leather themed night in Old Market at a favorite venue of ours, The Old Market Tavern. Doors opening at 7pm. Remember to check your e-mails for details. If not registered click onto GEAR’s website and sign-up for the newsletter.

GEAR Bristol report “We have loads of new guys keen to come along” for Sunday’s event. With a large proportion of BLUF guys in town for the Saturday event, plenty also be at GEAR on the night. So, there’s no excuse to slip into the leather and boots and head out for a Sunday shin-dig.

James and the team say, “This month has a leather theme but all masculine fetishes are welcome so expect rubber, skins, military, uniform, sports, pups, lycra, underwear - and less!” There’s a free buffet from 8pm as well as cruising in the netted areas and a dark ‘dungeon’ area.

Of course, don’t forget the post-GEAR chill session back at The Den until late on Sunday, which is proving to be a popular regular event: relaxed, chatty and …eventful.

Turning back to BLUF, the excitement is certainly building. So this week we know that there’ll be many a leatherman in the West already starting to buff-up and polish the leather and getting those big tall black boots ever so shiny. How do we know? Because, we’re doing the same!

LeatherWest will be a guests of BLUF Bristol on the night and we’ll eager to get in their and mix ourselves in a sea of leather men.

Be sure to look out for our special report on the night. We know of many guys getting new gear for the event, and for many their first time at a BLUF meet..

LeatherWest has noticed things turning up a gear on Facebook and Twitter in the build up to the event. We have even seen the preparations of guys making new pics to post.

Here’ just a couple of examples we’ve seen::

“I’m going to Bristol again in October. Partly because Bristol is an attractive and easy city to visit but also the [BLUF] meeting works well. The Den is small and intimate, with an outside area…Totally BLUF for a lengthy time. It’s only twice yearly and therefore a greater draw for locals and others. It has good press as well”: LeatherSteel, BLUF member.

Looking forward to Bluf Bristol on Saturday 19th October. Langlitz and Wescos will be polished and looking good.

“…have a weekend away with horny leather guys back in my home city. Hard part will be coming back”: Richard, BLUF Member in Manchester

Starting to get a bit excitable about @BLUFbristol #4, time to get my leathers and boots buffed up #gayleather #BigBlackBoots

The popular hotel of choice appears to the IBIS in Temple Meads where at least a dozen BLUF men will be staying over. A repeat of last year’s “boot fest” (and an incident that is still spoken about!)? What ever happens, someone’s in for a treat.

Lordy! We can’t keep up will all the events this weekend. Here at LeatherWest we’ll give it our best shot.. But that’s how the leather community is building in the West - a reassuring and encouraging sign.
