Whenever there is change, it’s a great opportunity to reflect on the past and look ahead to the future. With Mr LeatherWest 2016 making way for the next holder of the title, it is a good time to look back on what has been achieved and to look to the possibilities ahead.
Dave was appointed Mr LeatherWest 2016 as part of the first UK Leather Pride in Bristol 2015. He has held the title for the past 15 months, allowing the appointment of his successor to be made outside of the very busy UK Leather Pride weekend. During his time in office, Dave has been able to work on a number of projects and initiatives and can quite rightly, be proud of what has been accomplished. Take a moment to review Mr LeatherWest 2016’s page to see more detail.
One highlight of his year has been the establishment of The Leather Social: Cardiff. The Leather Social has been an established event on the London Leather Scene for a number of years and securing the rights to hold the first partner social outside of the capital allowed Mr LeatherWest to bring this great no ticket, no dresscode event to the LeatherWest region.
Over the subsequent months, The Leather Social: Cardiff has attracted a range of leather guys – from those established in their love of the hide, to those that are curious and wanting to know more. It has provided a great opportunity for guys to mix and get to know each other in a relaxed and chilled environment – the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Dave has also been a very visible presence at local Pride events and other leather events both in the UK and abroad. ONe of his first trips was over to Dublin for Geared Ireland’s Three Kings event in 2016. Here Dave spread the word about the leather scene in the west of the UK and established some great and lasting connections.
Since then Dave has continued to work at being a visible presence on the leather scene in the region and has always taken time to ensure that guys new to or curious about the leather world have their questions answered in his friendly and approachable way.
So thank you Dave for you time in office. The leathermen of the region are very proud to have you representing LeatherWest and helping to strengthen our community.
So do you think you have what it takes to fill Dave’s shoes and become the next Mr LeatherWest? If so, email firstname.lastname@example.org expressing your interest with a brief description of what you could offer and let’s take it from there.
