Harness or Engineer boots are common styles of motorcycle boots that bikers wear, unless they’re wearing performance sports biker gear. These boots come in various heights, and represent a rugged and macho appearance. Harness boots have a strap that wraps around the foot across the back of the heel and attached with a ring at each side and have a square toe. Engineer boots have a single strap usually with a buckle across the instep, and often are round toed.
Tall biker boots are usually over 35cm tall. They can either follow the styling of harness or engineer boots (see above). The most well-known brands of this style of boot include Chippewa and Wesco. There is also a tall boot modelled on the English riding boot. This is usually simple in style but has a highly glossed leather finish and are similar to motorcycle patrol boots.
Motorcycle police patrol boots are a speciality style of motorcycle boots. The boots are usually around 45cm tall and almost always black. They may have laces at the instep (“bal-laced”) or no laces (dress instep). The most well-known brands of patrol boots are Dehner, Chippewa, and Wesco.
