Project Description
Leather clothing has always been associated with rebellion and despite its continued rise in popularity, men wearing leather out on the street as part of their everyday clothing, have always stood out from the crowd. Urban encompasses two tribes that can be found in today’s leather culture.
Street leather is defined as items of leather clothing that are worn as part of a leatherman’s identity rather than due to necessity or fashion. Street leather guys will wear a well worn leather jacket that has seen action and has moulded to its wearer’s form. They’ll wear boots that promote confidence and stature. They may sport a wristband to highlight their need to wear leather close to the skin. Accessories such as a leather cap or gloves may complete the outfit. Street leather reflects an edgy and urban style that lies between casual and fashion. It promotes a quite, but confident sexual air.
Leather Skins are a more recent development extending the established skinhead look into the leather culture. Tall DMs, skin-tight bleacher jeans and polo shirt has evolved into tight leather jeans and perhaps shirt, often accompanied by contrasting braces. Tall, lace up boots complete the look which can be complemented by shades, wristbands and heavy neck chain.
