A bit of the Wild West rides up into Bristol Pride!

Looking for an excuse to dust off, ride up ‘n’ rodeo and “yee ha!” your way to a leather night for Bristol Pride? WE have the anwser - a leather night out with a twist. Be a leather cowboy! Be a denim cowboy! Just be a cowboy!!

And who can resist a rugged steer?

Pointed boots, shiny chaps on over some butt hugging Levi’s (or for the more authentic Western look try thigh grabbing, bulge inducing Wranglers), a figure hugging, chest protruding waistcoat, finished off perfectly with a cowboy hat. He’s cute, his manly stubble suggests he’s somewhat raw and having been out ranching across prairies, in those mountains and deserts for a few weeks he’s back in town looking to kick back, relax and blow off some coiled-up tension down at the saloon. You got it!!

In the heart of the city

Leather Wild West rides-up at The Phoenix Bar in the heart of Bristol, right next to Cabot Circus and a stone’s throw away from Castle Park and the all-day Pride festival.

LeatherWest’s ‘Bristol Uniform’ (Mark) says, promising, “… to give local leather guys an excuse to saddle up and wear your leather in a ‘lighter’ way for the summer, with a cowboy twist….it’s a bit of fun and something a little different and a great option to celebrate Pride Day.”

So - what to wear for this rodeo, you cowboys?

As an event promoted to leathermen and their friends and admirers, naturally there’s a dresscode. The minimum requirement is a pair of denim jeans and a checked shirt - and let’s face it what gay man hasn’t got those two items in the a cupboard! However, for reassurance, here’s a guide for you. Remember - if you don’t meet the minimum dresscode, you won’t get into the Saloon to ride-up-and-rodeo with the other cowboys! Follow the links at the foot of the page for directions for suppliers, etc.

Leather Cowboy - hot!

Black and brown leather chaps over jeans Levi’s are popular, Wrangler’s the choice of western wear for a cowboy), cowboy boots or harness boots (you know, the one’s with a square toe and a heel), ‘western style’ shirt (check, traditional or denim), with or without a waistcoat (leather preferred) and topped off with a fine cowboy (Stetson) or rangers hat.

Bandana and bolo tie optional, but great for the final look. (You can for an alternative wear a plain white ‘n tight T-shirt - best worn with a bandana around the neck)

Western Leather look - horny!

Black or brown leather jeans with boots (cowboy, western, harness), together with a shirt (check, western or denim), with or without a (leather or western style) waistcoat, maybe topped off with a hat, bandana, etc

Denim cowboy - raunchy!

Levi’s orWrangler’s with boots (as before) ‘western style’ or denim shirt, without or without a waistcoat (black or brown leather would look good as well as a brown suede traditional one) best worn together with a cowboy or ranching hat and a bandada here wouldn’t go a miss either to complete the look.

Supporting Bristol Pride

This year LeatherWest is supporting Bristol Pride. In order to make events as open and accessible to all, we’ve set a low entry price of £5, £2 of which automatically goes to Pride. As you may have heard, Bristol Pride has lost all it’s public funding for next year and for the foreseeable future. In order to make sure Pride Day itself is free to enter, we all need to help raise much need funds to keep Pride free! Buying a ticket means you know you’re making a small contribution that adds up to a much bigger amount to support Bristol Pride in future years.
