Saturday 21st December, leather festive romp around the Old Market Quarter of Bristol

Leathermen’s festive romp through Bristol’s Old Market Quarter!

LeatherWest joins forces with BLUF Bristol for an annual Leather Christmas social on Saturday December 21st which is aimed at “…all leathermen: from the curious to the full on tip-to-toe leather uniform man and everything in between! ”

The Old Market Quarter of Bristol, home to the west’s leatherman, will see festive jolly times in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Starting at 10pm in the Bristol Bear Bar, before moving down West Street to The Den from 11pm until the early hours.

Back Arrow Tim from LeatherWest says, “We’ll be welcoming friendly faces new and regular, and we do encourage guys to come with the Christmas spirit. If it means donning Santa hats instead of a Muir cap, so be it: though red ones are traditionally welcome, try to grab a black one!”.

Plenty of the west’s BLUF men will be in attendance when when joined by their LeatherWest brothers will make quite a sight! The local BLUF group will be ending the year on quite a high with record numbers of members, following on from the success of BLUF@Bristol in October and with the news that the local Bristol chapter are planning more events than ever before for 2014. This full-on horny crowd of tip-to-toe leather troopers will no doubt be on good form and full of Christmas cheer! BLUF Bristol says, “…we’re deffo looking forward to seeing some new faces and make some friends on the night.”

This year there’s a raffle being organised in aid of Gay Men Fighting Aids (GMFA) with some great prizes. Thanks to Matt Lamburn of Angels Will Fall, a sought after limited edition calendar of fantastic leather man inspired photography is up for grabs - and how rare this item is too. Each year a very limited print run of thirty is produced. So a lucky leather guy in the west will be the proud owner of something that is bound to be of value in the years to come. We got a sneak preview and we were more than impressed by Matt’s creativity. We’ve included some sneaky snaps off the iPhone to show you below!

A brand new copy of the the film Interior: Leather Bar will be another sought after prize. Just released in the UK on December 11th, it has shot up the charts to become Amazon’s best selling product in its Gay & Lesbian film category. So there’s a real risk of it selling out. You’ve got a chance to win your very own copy - just it time for Christmas!

Released in the UK this month and already an Amazon best seller

This film has an interesting story behind how it came to be. In order for the 1980 film, Cruising starring Al Pacino, to avoid an X rating, 40 minutes of gay S&M footage was rumoured to be cut and destroyed the cinema release. The film tells the story of a police detective who goes undercover into the underground gay leather subculture of New York to catch a serial killer who’s murdering numerous gay men with S&M tactics. Inspired by the mythology of this controversial film, filmmakers James Franco and Travis Mathews collaborated to imagine their own lost footage and this is presented to an eager audience in Interior:Leather Bar. And the best news? It’s directed (and stars) the lovely James Franco (has he got a leather side I wonder?) Catch a sneak peek here at this link.

So there’s a great night in store for leathermen in the west on 21st - every leather lover is welcome. Not only will there be all the festive cheer from the friendly crowd at BBB, there’ll also be seasonal drinks and eats at The Den from 11pm until late. We’ve already got quite a crowd coming - not only local guys, but others from further afield in the LeatherWest region. Blimey with all this going on, I’m gonna slide into some leather, boot up, and join the guys to spread some Christmas cheer!
