The Great Leather Rummage Returns!

By popular demand and following on from the success of the West’s first ever leather & gear market, the great leather rummage is set to return on Saturday 25th May at The Den, in heart of the Bristol’s Old Market.

Braces, belts, gloves, wrist bands, bicep straps.
The market was the answer to find all those little items to complete your leather look.

Rummage time starts at 12 noon with sales starting from 1pm until 5pm.

Held last November, the market saw an impressive number of guys turning up, not just on the hunt for a bargain or a special item, but with (at times) ‘arms full of gear’ to sell, resulting in a queue to check-in items of 20 minutes!

With just weeks to go, LeatherWest can report a large number of inquiries from guys looking for tall boots - style not important - just have to be tall 17 inches and more - hmmmmm. So the call is going out for Leathermen to dig out any tall boots they longer need knowing they’ll be going to a thankful and safe loving home!

Another trend spotted this Spring is the number of ‘newbies’ who are looking to build their leather collections. Chaps and shorts are in demand too. Already we’ve had messages from guys in Bristol looking for chaps and jeans, shirts and harnesses. For many, this market will be their first time at a leather man’s event.

As with the first market, quality gear is promised for sale: whether it be breeches from Leather Maniacs (based in Munich) as well as universally sought after RoB, Mr B and Expectations gear.

Again, it is the disappointment with on-line auctions and sales that’s driving people to the market, says SBerg, one of the organisers. “People want to feel and touch, try on, have a little think and then buy. Here’s a perfect way to do that without any pressure.

Whether you looking to sell or buy boots, chaps, a harness or two, jocks, biker gear, full-on leather uniform there’s likely to be something for you.

Mark (aka Bristol Uniform reports “We sold about £2000 of items on the day and the follow-up sale we helped run at GEAR Bristol’s event a week later. The quality the of the gear was amazing and we saw several ‘worn-once’ RoB items going for a real bargain.”

Eats create a ‘cafe atmosphere’.
Who says Leathermen don’t scoff cake!

The market opens it’s doors at midday for browsing, with sales starting at 1pm through until
5pm. The closing time is 6pm and the last hour is for sellers to collect unsold items and buyers to come back to pay for purchases.

More than just a market, the day is also a social vent, as seen last time, with guys spending a fair few hours catching up with friends and introducing new guys to the local scene.

Try on before you buy avoids any disappointment with on-line auctions and sales.

A pint and a browse. Many stayed around for some hours to catch new items as they came in.

The bar will be open throughout the day with the popular cake, eats and coffee and soft drinks available.

As with so many leather guys in town for the market, there’s plans a foot for an informal leather meet-up and get together back in The Den during the evening - we might even see (like last time) men sporting their new gear!

So now is the time to get ready: get that gear out you’ve grown out off, got to big and register for sale (see below). Come along and join with fellow leather men and lads and catch-up with your mates as well as meeting new people - better than being sat at home spending time on-like!

You can also bring your gear for sale to The Den on Friday night (May 24th) between 10pm and midnight - LeatherWest will be on hand to book-in and look after your items ready for the market the next day. See below for details.
