UNION Leather nights designed for all the tribes of leather to come together: BLUF, bikers, street and urban.
On the same weekend as Folsom Europe in Berlin, Sam Benger reports that the next UNION leather night in Bristol will provide a broader mix of leathermen than before - providing an antidote for those feeling a bit ‘blue’ by not being in “Berlin for Folsom”.
UNION Leather night in Bristol means local leathermen don’t have to look at Berlin for Folsom and feel they’re missing out. That’s the clear message from LeatherWest for this Folsom Europe weekend. And pretty good advice too.
Picture this: Facebook and Twitter are filling up with posts of guys grabbing a coffee in Wittenbergplatz; strolling down Motzstraße eyeing up the leather tottie trawling the streets of Schöneberg ; the selfies with guys in the Mr B shop buying a t shirt.
A leather heaven for a couple of days? Yes, if you’re there.
But what about those guys not in Berlin? Well, yeah…that’s a good question.
You mean the vast bulk staying at home? Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. People like us.
This is where UNION comes in.
The leather event that encourages “all the tribes of leather to come together in union”. Full on BLUF, Uniform men; Daddies, tops and Masters mixing it up with boys, lads, slaves and subs; bikers; guys in chaps, jock and a harness; the urban street look (leather jeans and shirt) or in tight Levi’s and a waistcoat/jacket - all are welcome.
This month’s UNION is being billed as a great antidote to any “Berlin blues”. The feeling a lot of leather guys get because they’re not at Folsom Europe, compounded by the fact they know a fair few friends having a riot in the “Leather Republic”.
Biker leathers, chaps, BLUF…all at UNION.
September’s UNION is also the first chance that many local leather guys will have chance to meet-up after the summer holidays. Certainly there’s a buzz in the air. The fantastic success and public reaction to seeing Leather on Parade at this year’s Bristol and Cardiff prides has really galvanised people. There’s a huge amount of stories to swap.
Anticipation is running high in the build-up to the first ever Bristol Leather Weekend in October. So, this is being seen as a warm-up for the big weekend.
It’s all pointing to a potentially great leather event on Saturday.
LeatherWest report that interest is strong, especially with Folsom on in Berlin, “Guys really want to get into their leather and get out there now that the autumn is fast approaching. Cooler nights. Darker nights. Which is what the guys love”, says LeatherWest’s Tim Black Arrow.
And it’s the presence of new faces which is encouraging. There’s an “upsurge of interest since the Summer prides in Bristol and Cardiff” . This has seen extra enquiries say LeatherWest. Mark Bristol Uniform reports that: “We’ve seen a number of guys wanting to come this month in their biker gear. We’ve been encouraging the biker guys to do exactly that. Bikers tend to get overlooked with leather events. We’ve got a few coming along and some have said they’ll even be arriving on their bikes!”
Bikers and guys in biker gear are expected from Bristol, Cardiff, Swindon, Radstock and Gloucester.
And it’s the enthusiasm of new faces too: two guys from Bristol are expected at UNION who have just got back from Germany after getting fully kitted out. A new BLUF member from Cardiff is coming to his first leather event in the City. Biker guys from Bristol and Swindon eager to “try it out [UNION]” and hoping to bring an additional mate too.
Latest confirmations show guys are travelling in from Birmingham, Worcestershire, Somerset, Swansea, Devon and Birmingham to add to the regulars from Bristol and Cardiff.
This September’s UNION has all the ingredients for a great leather night out: bikers and BLUF men, new faces, catching up with guys, sharing and swapping stories of Pride and the building excitement for the Leather Weekend in October.
I’ll be there. Question now is: BLUF, Biker and another look for Saturday? See you “underground in the cellars” of The Retreat!

I’d better get my Chipps [boots] out and polished, can’t be the younger end of BLUF and let the side down, can I? LOL.

Yeah we are talking about coming down. Probably 4 of us, 2 in BLUF 2 in more casual leather by the looks of it.

Looks like it’ll be a great night…and always looking for another reason to leather up.

Leather gear from leather maniacs has arrived. The leather breeches are better than I imagined. Not only looking great they are a pleasure to wear. See you at the Union.
